About Gilly

The founder of Green & Jenks and the great, great granddaughter of Frederick Green.

Having a corporate career with some well known companies, she retrained in horticulture and then set up her own businesses.

As the MD of Green & Jenks she has learnt a lot along the way and knows first hand how much goes into running your own business, but the rewards are meeting fabulous customers and working with some amazing staff.  She is very proud of her ancestors who inspired her to relaunch the family business.

She was born in Hendy Street, in Roath and grew up in Cyncoed where she attended Lakeside Primary and then Cardiff High, so she has lots of local knowledge.

Her love of nature and the countryside has led her to live in rural places most of her adult life. She is passionate about horticulture, food, farming and the environment.

Her interests include music and as a teenager growing up in Cardiff in the 70's and 80's, used to go to lots of live bands. Some of best moments were seeing The Jam, OMD and The Police. She sings in a local choir and enjoys all types of music particularly jazz.

Her cat, Felix, was found abandoned as a tiny kitten in Bangor Street but rescued by some lovely neighbours. He loves his new life in the countryside.

About Sarah

Another cat lover, her fun sense of humour and mischievous personality brings a lot of happiness to the shop. Customers love Sarah's compassionate nature and friendly smiling face.

Originally from Bristol, Sarah moved to Cowbridge as a young girl and worked as a window dresser in Boots in Cardiff.

She was a singer in several bands and that's how she met her husband. She has two sons who live locally.

They are a big foodie family and love cooking great food and Eamon enjoys a good glass of wine.

About Jane

Her bubbly personality makes everyone smile and she loves working and meeting our wonderful customers.

She has spent a lot of time in New Zealand and London and is well travelled. She's trekked across Africa and knows lots of interesting people.

She's relatively new to Cardiff but enjoys walking and discovering the landscapes of South Wales and has settled in at Green & Jenks so well.

In her spare time she enjoys African drumming and is a volunteer at a community garden.
