About our Artisan Farmers and Producers

Knowing where our food comes from is very important to us and reducing food miles is something we aim to do as much as possible. 

That is why we build relations with our suppliers so we can be sure that the food and drink we sell is traceable and good for you and our environment. 

As a farming family, we know directly the pressures on farmers to produce food in a sustainable way. So it's important to us to offer a range of products that we can trace back to the producer. 

Gilly's father's family have been farming in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons for hundreds of years. Once we were big farmers along the Usk valley at Tal-y-bont to Llanfrynach. Now our family is much smaller and only one farm remains in the Morgan side at Court Farm, Pencelli. This is opposite the house where her father was born and raised called Manascin Villa. She fondly remembers all the stories from her family about the carefree country life her father and his family enjoyed in this most idyllic location and regular visits to family farms. 

Her passion for farming grew and Gilly has lived in the countryside for most of her life. She has been a volunteer for Gwent Wildlife Trust, looking after a flock of Hebridean Sheep and at a horse rescue charity in Herefordshire. 

After a career change, when she retrained in horticulture, she was appointed the Network Manager for the Orchard Network of Excellence (ONE)  which worked with cider fruit growers in Herefordshire and the West Country.  Her role was to run workshops and events to improve the quality and quantity of cider apples on behalf of the National Association of Cider Makers. In recognition of her work she was awarded with a cup for her contribution to the cider industry at the Royal Bath and West Show.
